The Cool Ideas Pirates 10k race in association with Manoni is back. Pirates Road Running Club, Greenside, chairman Gerry Greyling said that for those who want to get off the couch and get in shape for the summer, or if you want to beat your own personal record (or personal record) over the distance of 10 km, the race is for you.
Known as Joburg’s fastest 10k due to the way the course is structured, the race returns after only taking place virtually last year due to Covid-19, this time at its new time slot in September to take advantage of the warmer spring weather.

Greyling said: “The route passes through Greenside, Parkview and Westcliff and begins with a slight uphill climb at 07:00 while the legs are still fresh. Once you get to the top it’s a long straight descent where you can really save time and finish the race in your own record time”.
This year, the first 1,500 participants will all receive a free t-shirt and goodie bag. Registration for the race on September 18 is available at entrytickets.net/coolideas10, the Sweat Shop or the Randburg Runner. Online registrations close on September 14 and registrations are limited to 3,000 participants.
