For the chronically indecisive, one of this year’s hottest color trends will come as a shock to the system. Monochromatic outfits are all about deflecting the rainbow and sticking to one hue and basing your entire outfit on that particular color.
What is monochrome?
A monochromatic outfit is an ensemble that centers around a singular color. The word “monochrome” is often mistakenly thought to refer only to black and white – probably because both of these colors fall under the grayscale umbrella and would therefore be appropriately qualified.

However, the trend is not limited to simple outfits made up of shades of black, white and gray, but extends to all colors of the rainbow.
Bright, saturated colors have been dominating the catwalks recently, and legendary luxury house Valentino is one of the key players. Her instantly recognizable fuchsia pink hue has been worn head-to-toe by many famous faces, including Zendaya, Florence Poug and Elsa Hosk.

“The idea of pink as a barrier breaker was born a long time ago,” said Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, explaining his reasoning behind the color choice.
“With my work, I have to be able to say and share my values through a single image and I wanted to apply the same paradigm to a color.”
