I’m a DIY Expert – Seven Tips to Make Painting Your House Easier and Avoid the Mess in the Process

Luckily, a DIY whiz has shared his best hacks to help you keep your painting mess-free.

Molly Miller from the USA uploaded her top seven painting tips to her Instagram account, The House of Renegades.

Her first tip is to line your paint tray with cling film before pouring your paint in so it can be easily removed when you’re done without having to clean the tray.

She also recommends wrapping your brush in it between coats so it doesn’t dry out.

Next, Molly uses painter’s tape and wraps it around the metal of the brush to prevent buildup.

She also recommends using an edge tool to get clean lines when painting if you find you have trouble doing it with a brush.

Before you start painting, Molly recommends wrapping your paint roller in lint tape to remove any excess lint so it doesn’t transfer to the walls and make your paint job look sloppy.

If you find that you still have wobbly lines even when using painter’s tape, use a credit card to smooth them out.

Molly recommends always having baby wipes handy when painting – so that if you get any on the floor, you can quickly wipe them up before they dry.

If you spot dried paint on your floors, the DIY genius suggests using a magic eraser to get it off quickly.

Finally, Molly’s latest hack, and her favorite, is called “the folder trick”.

If you can’t bother sticking tape on, this is for you, Moly says a plastic folder works best, but you can also use a cardboard one.

“Basically you just drag the folder with you and it prevents painting anything you don’t want to paint without spending a ton of time saving,” she explains.

Viewers of his videos were blown away by the easy hacks, with one writing, “This is so awesome!”

A third commented: ‘That’s great advice, definitely save it!’
